coaching
Coaching provides a compassionate and focused space for you to work on areas where you want to make accelerated progress. A good coach is like a mirror. You will be enabled to see yourself more clearly, from all angles. From that clarity, real change becomes possible...

creativity coaching
Many artists and entrepreneurs struggle with goals and timelines that don't suit them due to society's one-size-fits-all messages around productivity and success. Work with me to reinvent or tweak your approach... and to re-define your creative identity. Learn how to stop being buffeted by strangers' opinions. You deserve to feel confident and grounded in your arts practice.

ADHD coaching
Do you live with ADHD? Coaching will help you manage the quirks can make daily life tricky - like procrastination and perfectionism, impulsivity, time-blindness and difficulty in sticking to goals. ADHD doesn't need to define you... but accepting it fully will allow you to put in place the supports you need. Discover a calmer and more effective version of yourself.
Approach and methods
I work with clients using causal coaching, which is about delving into recurring issues and challenging the thought patterns contributing to these outcomes. The emphasis is on giving you more capacity to hold yourself accountable by re-building self-trust. (That said, I do assist with external accountability sometimes too).
Our sessions will include taking a closer look at the image you have of yourself, and reflecting on whether even makes sense any more. Or we may investigate new ways of doing things. Like finding kinder ways to motivate yourself, for example. Or finding ways to increase your productivity without increasing your stress levels.
For some clients I draw upon my professional experience in the arts to provide industry-specific advice and feedback where needed.
One-on-one coaching is conduced via Zoom. An In-person option is also available if you are based in nipaluna/Hobart.
Background and training
My life coach training was undertaken with Kristen Carder in 2021 and 2022. Kristen teaches ethical mindset coaching, with an emphasis on working with clients with ADHD. She is a thought leader in this growing field and her coaching has been transformative for many. Her ability to provide guidance to others while being transparent about her own challenges and flaws has been an inspiration for me both personally and professionally.
In addition to this, I have more than a decade's experience of working with and supporting creative people... as an adult education teacher, university lecturer, consultant, script editor, dramaturg, mentor, curator, festival director, creative producer, collaborator, activist and friend. I have instigated and run many programs to help writers generate ideas and/or be more productive. I frequently advise writers and filmmakers, as well as artists from other disciplines, who are experiencing career setbacks or creative blocks of one kind of another.
I have also had a long-standing interest in issues around well-being in the arts and have advised organisations and governments on how to better support artists and arts workers. I have undertaken mental health first aid training (MHFA 2019) and am comfortable working with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
My coaching is informed by compassion and lived experience. It is a privilege to share with others some of the techniques, tools and philosophies that have helped me to strengthen my arts practice and prioritise a healthier work/life balance.
